New OBD Protocol for Bosch MD1CS001 ECUs Released
Alientech has introduced a new OBD protocol for accessing Bosch MD1CS001 ECUs found in 1.5L and 2.0L diesel engines from BMW and Mini. This update enables users to read and write directly via the diagnostic port, streamlining the process of tuning these locked ECUs.
Previously, any modifications required a BENCH connection to unlock the ECU, followed by adjustments that reverted to BENCH for every calibration change. With the new OBD protocol, after an initial unlocking procedure through BENCH, tuners can read, write, and verify settings using KESS3 without the need for physical disconnection.
Additionally, the new protocol extends to Powergate users, providing the ability to manage customized tuning files remotely. This means that vehicle returns to the workshop can be minimized, allowing for more efficient service. To use the new OBD capabilities, KESS3 users must have the CAR OBD + BENCH/BOOT activation and an active subscription.
This OBD protocol is designed to work in conjunction with the existing BENCH mode. Initially, the MD1CS001 ECU must be unlocked with KESS3, after which OBD functionalities can be applied through KESS3 or Powergate. This release marks the first in a series of advancements tailored to these specific ECUs.
